The
political rift between former president Olusegun Obasanjo and president
Goodluck Jonathan in the build-up to the 2015 general elections may
have been put to rest as the president visited the former president in
his hilltop mansion in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The closed door meeting which lasted for about one and half hours may
not be unconnected with the attempt aimed at mending broken fences and
relationships between the two leaders over the latter’s intention to
contest the next presidential election which has generated diverse
reactions across the country
Curious journalists who thronged the hilltop mansion of the former
president were not allowed access and were not briefed afterwards.
Immediately the president left around 1: 30pm, the governors of Kano,
Jigawa, Adamawa and Sokoto took their turns in another round of meeting
with the former president.
